  1. Two Years

Lyrics

I’ve got something that I need to get off my chest
It started about two years ago and now I'm in this mess

We met on a snowy white hill down at Mercer
When I was just trying to get my diploma
Then I saw her and I couldn't control it
Had to get her name; this was my only moment
But, she got away before I could say anything
So I went on home and jumped on FB
Sent a message, told her to text me
Here's my number let's meet up next week
And to my surprise I got a reply
'Cause I figured this girl was too damn fine
To ever wanna ride with a guy like me
But, I guess I proved my self wrong 'cause I got the beauty
Hey, everything was great
We ate the same things and stayed up late
Either talking life ’til we saw the sun
And, I started thinking maybe she's the one
Well, it moved real fast, but it felt real slow
'Cause, I felt like I known the girl for so long
And, I didn't know where this was going to go
So I strapped my shoes on and was ready to roll. You know
It really was great
And, I thought that my heart really was safe
And, in the end, I wouldn't change anything
Woah, 'Cause now I can sing and say

Woah oh ah oh oh oh
Woah oh ah oh oh oh
Woah oh ah oh oh oh
Woah oh ah oh oh oh
Woah oh ah oh oh oh
Woah oh ah oh oh oh

Everything was going good
Until we got the news that we're getting kicked out real soon
Couldn't pay the bill
Fifty thous-a-year. Who can? We couldn't; could you
Then she got a job
At a local bar waiting tables just tryna pull through
Didn't know what to do
With our backs against the wall, so we just started blindly shooting
I didn't have a job; she told me to sing
I guess that was the very best thing
Because the very next day I started out to play
And, I started to make a name for our sake, okay
We moved downtown
And, I somewhat started to develop a sound
That reflected on the things that were going around
From the bars with the blues and the melancholy tunes
That boy can sing
And, he can play guitar; baby, do yo thing
And, don't let anybody tell you what to play
'Cause you got something and everyone will hear it someday; It's great
Well, I hit my ceiling pretty fast
Macon doesn't have much for someone original
We packed up, moved up to see what's up with the
People who's playing around in Atlanta. Help us
While I'm working on my CD
It's called "Rough Draft EP"
Well, this job ain't easy
But, it's worth everything so I sit back and sing

Woah oh ah oh oh oh
Woah oh ah oh oh oh
Woah oh ah oh oh oh (so I sit back and sing)
Woah oh ah oh oh oh
Woah oh ah oh oh oh
Woah oh ah oh oh oh

Well, it didn't take long
We moved in with Enay until we could take off
Then Hannah enrolled into Georgia State law
While I submerged becoming withdrawn
Obsessed with being the best, I remiss
That I couldn't even kiss my wife on the lips
Conflicts are now what our life consists of
Convinced, she insists that it's time to quit
I'm led upstairs to a sickened group
And, I'm told to sit down and listen to
Everybody's views to undo I do
Because at this point everyone knows we're through, except me
Look, I know I screwed you
But, I would do everything I possibly could do to keep you
And, never misconstrue
Because I love you... You know I do
